Oh. Bougie. You may have been named purely for shopping at Whole Foods or consuming absurd quantities of rosé. You may have hurled it as an insult to a friend who can't shut up about her latest highlighter, Anastasia Beverly Hills. Perhaps you've been listening endlessly to the rap group Migos' chart-topper Poor and Boujee. Boujee is hip-hop slang, inspired by and frequently interchanged with the slang bougie, for something "luxurious in lifestyle and modest in character." In 2016, the trio Migos' hit hip-hop single "Poor and Boujee," debuted a new take on, and spelling of, bougie: boujee. At the top of the Billboard list, the song spent eight weeks popularising boujee as a black / hip-hop slang term indicating "self-made riches that does not mean ignoring one's more modest origins." A Boujee Shirt-Kinda Bad, Kinda Boujee-is the perfect shirt for those days when you feel exactly that! pre-shrunk, classic fit sweater that's made with air-jet spun yarn for a soft feel and reduced pilling.
