DESCRIPTION
There is no shortage of traditional cultural stereotypes about social classes, from "girls suck at maths" and "men are so insensitive" to "he gets a little senile with age" and depending on who we are and what the "norms" are in a specific community, society also expects us to behave in a certain way and be a certain way.

There's no harm in making racial or ethnic remarks based on stereotypes, some people may claim. However, in most cases, racial stereotypes and profiling is negative because they disregard both individuals' complete dignity and individuality. It is demeaning, devaluing, restricting, and hurtful to others when our views of different races are skewed and stereotypical.

In certain cases, feelings of inferiority will begin to grow in people who are constantly branded in derogatory ways. Such feelings of inferiority may also contribute to self-fulfilling prophecies that reinforce the stereotype. Ethnic stereotypes may also encourage hatred and anger sensations that could contribute to a false sense of entitlement and superiority. This can contribute to their participation in oppressive and racial policies for those individuals who have influence.

However, there is hope. A variety of approaches are defined by emerging research on how to reduce the stereotype hazard, the most obvious being the change of the stereotype. This is essentially the way to eliminate the question once and for all. But changing stereotypes sadly often takes time. Being aware of the stereotype can also help us reinterpret fear and make us more likely to perform better by being mindful of the negative consequences that stereotypes can have. We may not be able to absolutely and automatically stop prejudices, but we should try to clean the air away from them. The Overcome The #Label Campaign is 'a celebration of people who reject stereotypes and champion self-expression'.
