Don't Label Me Hoodie
by Societal
Labeling People. Marking People. Stereotyping People. Branding People. We are all guilty. It's something we're all amazing at, whether we sign ourselves or others. White or black? Girl or boy? Rich or impoverished? Wise or silly? Standard or anomalous? It's almost as though we can't control any form of dichotomy by categorically marking individuals. What we need to begin to realise is that we're not our marks, so we need to stop wearing them. We are more than what people call us, we are more. More than one thing we can be. We don't belong in a box. People are dynamic and beautiful. From race, gender, socio-economic status, mental wellbeing, religion, physical health, and all in between, if we all gained more insight on our behavior and our words, everyone would have fewer problems of stigma and prejudice. Humans are not goods that have to be slapped with labels in a store, so let's encourage ourselves and others to be free to be who we really are. The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do. Ditch the silent majority, find your own unique voice, and inspire societal change.
